We’ve only just kicked off 2020 and we’re already looking at what might be one of the best gigs of the year, with Tim Minchin announced as the secret guest for this week’s Supergroup event.

The concert series from All Our Exes Live In Texas’ Georgia Mooney will see Minchin join Montaigne and Adrian Eagle on stage at the Giant Dwarf Theatre this Friday, with the four artists seated in a semi-circle, each taking turns to perform a song while the others join in beside them.

Tickets to the event, which has been described as “one-part chat show, one-part comedy show and one-part improvised chaos”, will no doubt sell out, especially given the venue’s 300 capacity.

Supergroup came from an undying fascination with songs and the stories that accompany them,” Mooney said.

“I never cease to be amazed by the quality and diversity of songwriting coming out of the Australian music community. We’re a small bunch but we certainly pack a punch!”

“I wanted Supergroup to bring together artists who may not otherwise have a chance to share the stage and see what magic they can create together.”
