
Australian artists have won big at the annual Libera Awards, which is about "celebrating the accomplishments of the Independent community".
Melbourne group Amyl & The Sniffers have taken out the Best Punk/Emo award for their self-titled album, beating bands like Bad Religion, American Football, The Menzingers and Empath.
"Hell yeah! We’re Amyl & The Sniffers and we’re real stoked we won," said the group in the pre-recorded video.
The success continued with Melbourne's King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard beating Boris, Babymetal, Periphery and Cattle Decapitation for Best Metal Album with their release, Infest The Rats' Nest.
Sydney's Julia Jacklin took out Best Folk/Bluegrass Album with Crushing, beating acts like Bedouine, Patty Griffin, Jake Xerxes Fussell and Jessica Pratt.
"Thank you so much to the American Association for Independent Music for this award. It means a lot to me..." said Jacklin. "I'm really proud of this album so thank you for honouring it in the way that you are."
Jacklin also shared a performance of her track Don't Know How To Keep Loving You from the album.
Other winners for the day included Orville Peck, FKA twigs, Mavis Staples and Idles, who took out Best Live Act beating Courtney Barnett and also Best Synch Usage for their track appearances in Peaky Blinders.
Alex Cameron was also up for the award for Best Outlier but was beaten by Kate Le Bon.
The awards are run by the American Association Of Independent Music and run as part of the Indie Week celebrations.
