ARIA, PPCA and the Australia Council have today announced new recording grants for First Nations artists.

Five grants, each valued at $18,500, will go towards creating new recordings by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians, with the program also giving access to "industry professionals who will advise and help the grantees to develop effective marketing, promotion and audience growth for their recording project".

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with ARIA and PPCA and to deliver these grants to First Nations contemporary musicians," Australia Council Executive Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts, Lydia Miller said.

"We can’t wait to hear the exciting new releases that will be made possible through these new grants."

ARIA CEO Dan Rosen added, "I look forward to hearing the music that will be created as the result of these grants, and also to work towards a more diverse and inclusive Australian music industry".

More details on the new grants will be revealed in the coming weeks, while the five recipients will announced later in the year.
